Analyze your business expenses with category breakdowns, job profitability tracking, and monthly trend charts.

Accessing Expense Reports

  1. Click Reports in the sidebar.
  2. Select Expense Reports.
  3. Use the date range and category filters to narrow results.

Report Sections

Category Breakdown

See how your spending is distributed across expense categories (Materials, Labor, Equipment, Subcontractor, Other). Displayed as a chart and summary table with totals.

Job Profitability

For each job with expenses, see:

  • Revenue — total from paid invoices
  • Expenses — total costs tracked against the job
  • Profit — revenue minus expenses
  • Margin — profit as a percentage of revenue

This helps you identify which types of jobs are most profitable and where you might be overspending.

A chart showing total expenses by month over the selected period. Spot seasonal patterns and track whether your costs are increasing or decreasing.

Filtering

  • Date range — filter expenses by date period
  • Category — show only specific expense categories
  • Job — filter to a specific job

Exporting

Click Export CSV to download your expense data for the selected filters. Use this for tax preparation, bookkeeping, or importing into accounting software.

Tips

  • Review job profitability after completing each job to learn where you can improve margins.
  • Track monthly trends to catch unexpected cost increases early.
  • Export expense data quarterly for tax planning.
