Understanding the Dashboard

The dashboard is the first page you see after signing in. It gives you a quick picture of how your business is doing — how much you’ve earned, who owes you money, and what’s coming up.

Quick Actions

Four buttons at the top let you jump straight into the most common tasks:

  • New Invoice — create a new invoice
  • New Job — create a new job
  • New Customer — add a new customer
  • View Leads — see your lead pipeline (Pro only)

Revenue Metrics

The top of the dashboard shows seven key numbers for the selected month. Here’s what each one means and why it matters.

Top Row

Total Revenue — the total amount from invoices that were paid this month. This only counts money you’ve actually collected, not invoices that are still outstanding. The number in parentheses shows how many invoices were paid.

vs Last Month — how this month compares to the previous month, shown as a percentage. A green arrow means you’re up; red means you’re down.

Average Invoice — the average dollar amount per paid invoice this month. If this number is trending up, you’re either raising prices or taking on bigger jobs.

Unpaid Amount — the total outstanding balance from invoices you’ve sent but haven’t been paid yet. This is money owed to you. If this number is high, it’s time to follow up with customers or consider setting up payment reminders (Pro).

Second Row

vs Last Year — how this month compares to the same month last year. Useful for spotting seasonal trends in your business.

Collection Rate — the percentage of invoices that get paid out of all invoices sent. Aim for 85% or higher. If your collection rate is low, look at your overdue invoices and consider shorter payment terms or automatic reminders.

Avg Days to Payment — how many days it takes customers to pay you on average. Under 30 days is healthy. If this number is climbing, your customers might need a nudge.

Revenue Chart

The Revenue — Last 6 Months bar chart shows your monthly paid invoice totals over the past six months. Each bar represents the total revenue collected that month. This gives you a quick visual of whether your business is growing, steady, or slowing down.

Operations Overview

Two summary cards show your current workload at a glance:

Jobs Overview — counts of active, completed, and cancelled jobs for the selected month.

Invoice Status — counts of draft, sent, and paid invoices. If you have a lot of drafts piling up, it might be time to review and send them.

Top Customers

This card ranks your customers by how much they’ve paid you this month. It’s useful for knowing who your biggest accounts are and who to prioritize if you need to schedule work or follow up on payments.

Top Jobs

Your highest-value jobs for the month, ranked by paid invoice totals. Helpful for seeing which types of work are generating the most revenue.

Overdue Invoices

Invoices past their due date, showing the customer name, how many days overdue, and the amount. If you see invoices here, it’s time to follow up.

On the Free plan, you’ll need to follow up manually. On Pro, you can set up automatic payment reminders that email your customers when invoices are overdue.

If you’re all caught up, you’ll see an “All caught up!” message.

Pro Dashboard Widgets

These additional widgets appear when you’re on the Pro plan.

Leads Snapshot

Shows your sales pipeline at a glance:

  • Active Leads — how many open leads you’re working
  • Pipeline Value — the total estimated value of all active leads
  • Lead Conversion — what percentage of leads turn into customers

Upcoming Jobs

Shows your next scheduled jobs with the customer name and date. Click any job to go to its detail page. This gives you a quick look at what’s coming up without switching to the full Schedule calendar.

Estimate Conversion

Tracks how well your estimates convert to real work:

  • Conversion Rate — percentage of sent estimates that get accepted
  • Accepted Count — how many estimates were accepted this month
  • Accepted Value — total dollar value of accepted estimates

Expenses & Profit

A quick view of your bottom line:

  • Monthly Expenses — total expenses logged this month
  • Profit Margin — percentage of revenue remaining after expenses
  • Top Categories — your three highest spending categories (e.g., materials, fuel, subcontractors)

For detailed breakdowns, visit Expense Reports.

Service Agreements & MRR

If you use service agreements for recurring contracts:

  • Active Agreements — how many agreements are currently active
  • Expiring Soon — agreements approaching their end date
  • Pending Renewal — agreements waiting for renewal
  • Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) — your predictable monthly income from active membership-billing agreements. This is money you can count on every month.

MRR only counts agreements with membership billing mode, active status, and an assigned service plan.

The Getting Started Checklist

If you just signed up, you’ll see a Getting Started checklist at the top of the dashboard with 8 tasks. A progress bar shows how many you’ve completed.

Steps complete automatically as you use the app — when you create your first customer, that step turns green. You can collapse or dismiss the checklist at any time. Your progress is always saved — completed steps stay green.

The checklist is only visible to account owners, not team members. See Onboarding Wizard for details on each step.

Dashboard Nudges

The dashboard may show helpful prompts based on where you are in setting up your account:

  • First Customer — prompts you to add a customer if you haven’t yet
  • First Invoice — prompts you to create an invoice once you have a customer
  • Connect Stripe — reminds Pro users to set up online payments after sending a few invoices
  • Overdue Invoice — highlights overdue invoices and mentions automatic reminders available on Pro
  • Unpaid Dashboard — appears when you have several unpaid invoices adding up

These prompts disappear automatically once you take the suggested action.

Changing the Time Period

Use the month selector at the top right to view any previous month. All metrics, the revenue chart, and the ranking cards update to reflect the selected period.

Exporting Data

Click the Export button next to the month selector to download a CSV of your dashboard data for the selected period. Useful for sharing with your accountant or importing into a spreadsheet.
